As a workshop teacher during the ID1 course at K3 I have been teaching first year students different practical techniques within interaction design. Below you can see two pictures from the workshops and also read the course outline.

Purpose:

This course provides an overview of the principles and techniques of interaction design.

Goal:

Upon completion of this course students will have a working understanding of the underlying theory and practical techniques of interaction design. They will be able to work effectively in groups to analyse product cases and engage in simple design tasks for diverse groups of users. The course also aims to prepare students for practical fieldwork in Id2, and to introduce students to the dynamics of group work processes.

Content:

Course content to be covered will include an introduction to interaction design processes, use qualities, usability goals, principles and heuristics, data-gathering techniques, participatory design, prototyping and evaluation processes.
